Topic Introduction: Nintendo

For all my life I have been playing Nintendo consoles. I started with the GameBoy to Gamecube to Wii to now the Nintendo Switch. I chose this topic because of my passion for Nintendo products and the immersive universe it has created throughout my childhood. I am an avid user of Nintendo related forums and always keep up to date with the newest news regarding Nintendo.

For this assignment I have a multitude of ways to collect media regarding Nintendo. The Nintendo Switch has a screen capture button and you can upload those pictures to the internet so I will have plenty of content for a picture collage. Another way of collecting media is a program called FRAPS which can record HD screen capture at 60 fps. For the audio I have a soundboard of characters voices and quotes which I can extract MP3 files from. With all of these tools there are many projects that I have in mind for the media projects regarding this topic.

For my video project I have an idea of creating a story in Super Smash Brothers Ultimate and dub voices over the video. One of my ideas is showing me ranking up on the online ladder and showing the ups and downs of my climb. For the graphic design project I thought that I could make a poster advertising one of my favorite Nintendo games. I would use screenshots from the game and use Photoshop to create the rest of the poster.

Hello and welcome to my blog! My name is Eric Virta and I am currently a sophomore at Washington State University. I have lived in Snoqualmie Washington for my whole life and graduated from Mount Si high school. I am also currently in the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity here at WSU. The purpose of this blog is to share and show my multimedia content that I have created about Video games for COM210 at WSU. In my free time I love working out and playing video games with my friends which is why I”m writing about this topic! I have been playing games as long as I can remember with some of my favorites being the Pokemon and Dark Souls series. Some other things I enjoy are smelling and collecting essential oils. While that may sound kind of weird for a guy to be doing they have a lot of healing power and especially help with anxiety. My career goals include either being an investigative journalist or creating my own new media company similar to Infowars or RT news. If I could, I would also want to enter the growing cannabis industry as it is booming, especially in Washington state.
